Addlebrained Monday

so apparently, my brain is not in gear today… yes I know… no pictures!!!

You'll have to wait unless I figure it out, since Bryan is off with his mom and dad (in their BEAUTIFUL, barely second hand, with all the extras Winnebego to go fishing tomorrow morning with a charter I won at an auction last year.

AND I didn't tag people!!! DUH!! so… hang on and I'll finish the game tonight maybe

My very first time being "tagged"

I've been tagged by WaitingontheLord at “One Day I'll Mount Up with Wings Like Eagles”

this will show you just how ugly my bedroom is, which we reluctantly keep the computer in… sigh

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
“Normally we talk of the growth or decline of our churches, or of the latest political or denominational controversies.  Rarely do we do what Paul desired to do with the Romans: “I long to see you so that…  you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.”

from “The Collapse of the Brass Heaven” by Zeb Bradford Long and Douglas McMurray (rebuilding our worldview / cultural view to embrace the power of God)

2.
Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you touch?
My vacuum cleaner.  Its true.  It is stored  in our bedroom in plain sight. I told you it wasn't pretty!!

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?
bits and pieces of Crossing Jordon and Grey's Anatomy last night… first time the TV has been on besides Bryan's soccer games in over a week!  You know, I don't miss it! wow

4.
Without looking, guess what time it is.
I don't want to know… ok… 2:00 pm

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
1:57pm

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
Lawnmowers from the maintenance people, The Magic School Bus on TV, and a small engine plane over head.

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
This morning to run to the bank to get quarters.  With the new washer and dryers and the increase per load, the roll didn't last as long as I thought it would!

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
Choosing Home    and checked my email.

9. What are you wearing?
Jeans, my favorite long sleeve t-shirt (its cold and rainy) and bare feet… but they are COLD!

10. Did you dream last night?
no time, with both kids being up a number of times

11. When did you last laugh?
putting Thaddeus to bed… as long as I don't get in a hurry and impatient with him, he will always make me laugh!! – today he was performing a trick for me šŸ™‚ “Am I tritchy (tricky) mom? yeah, I am tritchy betoz I do dis and fly on the bed like a lion.” – preceded and followed by a rather lengthy paragraph of … ??? I am not even sure.  Wow, he is a talker!!!

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?

ICK, I told you it'd be sad.  Actually, what is up there is fine, but the color and organization of it is … sad.  a Papua New Guinea mask, a calendar, a jarrah wood back scratcher from Australia, 2 party lite hanging candle thingys, my mom's beautiful cross stitch she made for our wedding with our names and dates.

13. Seen anything weird lately?
I work out at the gym and go to “sweatshop” – a VERY HIGH cardio workout… led by a BIG african american, baggy pants and baggy t-shirt with headband dude… That isn't the weird part… that is fine.  The weird thing is watching all these white, non-rhythm (including me) inclined people trying to do the routine… its just comical and keeps you humble!!

Ā·

14. What do you think of this quiz?
fun

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
hobby farm in West Australia with an extra house for my parents to live in… a few more investment properties to live off of… I don't know… its so far fetched, why dream?

17. Tell me something about you that I do not know.

I have hobbit feet.  and skin cancer. and they have nothing to do with each other LOL

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?

world peace… just kidding.  well not really, but you know.  our worldview (see first question…)

life life and life

Hey all,

Itā€™s been a little too long!!!  There has been lots going on.  Iā€™m trying to prioritize, and all that good
stuff.  I have been enjoying my familyā€™s
emails, and reading ā€œmyā€ blogs, but the communication efforts on my part have
been NIL, so here goes.

We have been working into a fairly good schedule
routine.  I am trying to get this basic
stuff down so that the kids are used to it and donā€™t question it and it will be
FAST!! J  Here is my general routineā€¦

  • Kids
before breakfast will be dressed, with hearing aids, beds ā€œmadeā€ (that is
all relative J ) bedroom floor picked
    up.
  • At
breakfast we will have Bible stuff.
  • Keenan
will help clear and wipe table, Thaddeus will hand-vacuum up the floor,
    Mom will do dishes.
  • Brush
    Teeth
  • Then
Keenan can in whatever order he wants do:
piano practice, handwriting, tae kwon do (if we donā€™t have class
that day) and math (which during the summer consists of anything vaguely
mathematicā€¦ dominoes, tangrams, money play, clocks etcā€¦ or a real
    ā€˜workbookā€™ ā€“ whatever he wants)
  • Memory
work and review (Bible verses and poetry)

I just want him to get used the routine, doing math
etc.  Then if he likes, and does well
with it, he can even choose when he does it, etcā€¦ to some extent anyway.  Weā€™ll see how much freedom he can handle.

Following are some pictures of Keenan at his Tae Kwon Do
testingā€¦ YEAH!! He got his yellow belt.
I am so proud of him.  He has come
so very far!! In balance, in focus, in perseveranceā€¦ he doesnā€™t like it when it
is hard and he is learning great lessons about not giving up, and trying even
if its hard and hurts, and perseverance.
Itā€™s awesome to see.

Well, that was our week pretty much! J  Weā€™ll get back on the band wagon here
hopefully.

Keenan’s Salvation!

Jun. 15, 2006

YEAH!!! We feel sure we can say that Keenan is a Christian. He has always had a tender heart for God, didn’t like that Jesus died, loved God, knew he did wrong things, but it didn’t seem to click until this last Sunday. Where I believe it did!!

At a church out at Eagle River, we went to their “Honor our Kids” day… while there, in the object lesson tent, he raise his hand and asked to pray at the end.

Keenan: “Dear God, I don’t want to be dirty any more. Please make my heart clean. Amen.”

(the teacher told me he just totally got everything she talked about, as evidenced by his sweet prayer)

That night at the Souljourn worship gathering, we had communion as the first part of the teaching time. We kept Keenan in with us, so he could have his first communion (not counting the two Passover dinners we have done). He was very serious, no silliness, not distracted at all (if you know Keenan, that is saying something!!) He totally seemed to get it. We have talked about it a lot. For the first time he didn’t say “But I don’t want Jesus to die!” – he seemed to understand that it was necessary.

At bedtime, we went over the events of the day… this is his rundown…

Mama: what was your favorite part of the Kids Day at church (clowns, inflatables to jump in, winning a prize, bubbles, water balloons and water guns, ballooon shapes… etc)

Keenan: the tent (where the object lesson was done)

he actually wanted to go through and listen again, but we couldn’t stay šŸ˜¦

Mama: Did you pray? What about?

Keenan: Oh, I just prayed my heart up to God.

Mama: What did you think of communion?

Keenan: Happy. Sad.

Mama: what parts?

Keenan: Happy that Jesus died for me (that is a first!) Sad because I do wrong things, and (insert grumpy frustrated face) I hate Satan. I just wish God would send him to the punishment (place)!!!

I really think there has been some spiritual warfare going on. The week before he was TOO grumpy!! ornary, attitude filled… ick. Monday, riding in the car. he started telling me about the thunder in his head… he didn’t like the thunder and he wished it would go away.

Mama: What does the thunder feel like?

Keeenan: It feels like frustration and anger and buzzing and I don’t like it. I just hate Satan. But I love God, and I hate Satan. But I really love God. Last year (yesterday) I prayed and the thunder went away, and I want it to go away again.

SO that is what is going on in our house!!

included in all that, is an extra little boy, 2yrs, from 7 – 5, and “our” 13yr girl (next door neighbors daughter) and trying to close on this triplex… which I think is really going to happen at some point here!!! šŸ™‚

Towdah – Hebrew Words of Worship – 6 of 7

Towdah

Towdah comes from the same principle root word as yadah, but is used more specifically. Towdah literally means, “an extension of the hand in adoration, avowal, or acceptance.”

By way of application, it is apparent in the Psalms and elsewhere that it is used for thanking God for “things not yet received” as well as things already at hand.

This form of praise happens just because we KNOW that His Word is true.  Its applying God's Word to our lives!  We may not have experienced it yet.  We may be waiting for peace, joy, deliverance, provision… we might not feel like a new creation, or His bride,  or able to be used, yet because He has promised it, we agree in faith with His Word, and we lift our hands in agreement and acceptance of what He has promised.  In Scripture God is seen holding out His right hand to us… this is a covenant… so we raise our right hand, accepting His covenant.  I love that picture!!!

Psalm 50: 14  ” Offer to God a [sacrifice of thanksgiving] towdah and pay your vows to the Most High;  Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.”

Psalm 50: 23a “He who offers a [sacrifice of thanksgiving] towdah honors Me;”

This is why I have no problem now, singing words to songs that I don't feel / or don't see that have happened in my life… because I know it is what God wants for me, and I can “claim” it… “All that I adore is in You…” – sometimes not true, to be honest… but I want it to be true, and as He molds me and forms my heart, He will make it true.

May be you have sung “You are my healer…” – you may not feel completely healed emotionally or physically.  AND YET,  you know He is the Healer, and His plan is not to leave you broken and hurting, but to heal you and to allow you to experience the FULLNESS of His life in you.  WHOLENESS… in every part of us.

OK – llok for the finale this week!! – surely!

big day!!

Ok, it wasn't really that big of a day, but it seemed like lots of important things happened.

Bryan got us a SHOWER that fits!!! yeah!! – our condo has a not average shaped “hole” for a shower, and we had to tear the old tile one out… that was tiled on top of moldy nastiness tile… it such a shoddy sham of a job it was ridiculous!!  BUT now we found a base that will fit, so we won't have to get a custom one, and it just needs to be installed now !!

Our new cockatiel ( I can't believe I am blogging about a BIRD!! _ I would not call myself an animal lover!) – he came and loved on us today!! totally bizarre… he wanted out of his cage SO bad… so we let him out.  He got up on top, flew down to the lunch table (oops) – would have eaten off our plates if we had let him, hopped on our arms and shoulders… pecks at our fingers to get his head underneath so we can scratch him.  After a couple hours, he hopped right back into his cage!! pretty cool.

As we were sitting down for dinner (Costco chicken – which by the way makes an excellent soup!) – my friend calls and invites us to their cul-de-sac B-que – can't say no to that, now, can you?  So we grab the kids bikes, and head on over.  When it was time to go home Bryan had opened the trunk to put the bikes in, he got one in, sidetracked, and we were hanging out for a good 15 minutes, went over to leave…

He heard this thumping.  Keenan had closed himself in the trunk.  he was on his back pushing and kicking against it trying to get it open (Bryan is proud of his survival instincts… ok…)  When Bryan realized it and opened it, the look on his face was absolutely terrified.  He had probably been in there 15 minutes.  He just CLUNG to Bryan, and then to me, he was clingy and enjoyed much hugs and cuddles… fell asleep in my arms… poor baby!! makes me want to cry!!!  HE says to me “Mom, can you pray about Jesus please?”

ok so that was our day.  hopefully tomorrow I'll get the next Hebrew word of worship out.  Sorry I have dragged this on SO incredibly long!!

Kids funnies and stories and a BIRD

EDIT TO ADD:  Also, our neighbor (single Dad) – is on the slope working this summer between college sememsters.  two weeks on two weeks off.  So we are taking care of his 13 yr old daughter… good fun!! a mite scary! and a lot of fun to watch Pride and prejudice with!!  I'll have to introduce her to the 6 hour version!!..

SO Keenan made spaghetti this morning, all by himself… while washing dishes… all you nee is hot water and raw noodles right?   he sure loves his experiments… I like that he is thinking!! šŸ™‚

We got a bird… yup, a cockatiel.  Keenan named her (Her previous name was Handsome) – Keenan says “lets see, it has an r and an s… it starts with r, ends with s,,, – (he is thinking SO hard, really focusing!!) – yup, Arpus… that's it.  Arpus. – ok – that was completely out of his head!!! he is a thinker to be sure.

One of Bryan's patients (he is a nurse) wanted to give it to him… I think he knows deep down he is dying and wanted a home for it.  SO we obliged, and now we have a pet!!

SO Arpus it is.  except for Thaddeus… “its not arPUS its a BIRD!!” – He doesn't get that we named the bird.  Pretty humorous!!

We are excited to almost (surely almost now!!) be closing.  (on the triplex)  Keenan is also very excited.  He told me the other day… “Mom, I am done with this house.  We just need to close the house so we can move!!!”

Anyway.  By now… on to other things… like handwriting math and lunch šŸ™‚
